Damage« contains many photographs which provide an insight into the artist’s studio and her work processes. 75 colour reproductions show pictures from the different stages of her creativity and will be on display in a solo exhibition at the Shanghai Art Museum. However, the main focus is on a new set of works which all examine interpersonal confrontations and the balancing acts of relationships. Xenia Hausner explores traces of violence. The result is enigmatic pictures of everyday life that deal with love and loss, and with the catastrophies of our times. Her works are interpersonal portrayals of society. Although they are very private, they go beyond the individual in their search for authenticity.
