Friedl Dicker-Brandeis
Friedl Dicker-Brandeis was one of the most important students of the Weimar Bauhaus. Initially she specialised in textile and graphic design, then later worked as an interior designer. Her paintings reflect her profound study of the classical avant-garde. The publication traces in detail the wide-ranging creative achievements of an artist who also suffered political persecution.

description
Friedl Dicker-Brandeis (1989–1944) was a painter, art teacher and politically active poster artist. The lavishly illustrated volume positions her work within the framework of Classic Modernism and shows how versatile she was as an artist. She was persecuted by the Nazi regime and tried until the end to encourage children in the ghetto of Theresienstadt to draw. The various text contributions describe the particular characteristics of her artistic work as well as the art therapy which she developed.
