Responsible use of resources in book production is important to us. Together with our printers and bookbinders, we follow an approach that avoids chemicals that are environmentally harmful or damaging to water or health in the production of printing plates, adhesives, and binding materials, as well as inks based on mineral oil or with high levels of pollutants. We use FSC- or PEFC-certified graphic papers.
Most of our partners can generate part of their own electricity needs via photovoltaic systems, with the remainder typically covered by green electricity. We also use green electricity in our publishing offices.
We see it as our responsibility to encourage the increasing acceptance of the absence of shrink wrap, even in the art book sector. Upon request, we are happy to produce Blue Angel-certified publications – for example, our volume Sand, produced in this way, won the international ICMA Award in 2023 (Sustainability category). We can also offer Cradle-to-Cradle-certified productions and carbon-neutral printing by investing in suitable projects worldwide.
