The exhibition at MAAT takes as its conceptual axis a set of works that address themes of urban culture — works in which the city, the street, and everyday life are transformed into spaces charged with visual and sound signals. Rhythms, coincidences, mundane events, formal spontaneity, and the proliferation of the subordinate emerge as recurring themes, shaping an expansive imaginary that reveals Marclay's distinctive way of confronting and reconfiguring artistic hierarchies, often juxtaposing elements of high and low culture.
